Bad start

So I know I promised more posts at the end of 2009 and as you can see I haven't really gotten off to the greatest start now have I?

Okay so I'm going to backtrack just a bit so I can explain the things I wanted to blog about but didn't.

My 20th Birthday! My 20th birthday was on the 20th of December so you can say it was my golden birthday or special or whatever you wish to call it. The night before my birthday we went to dinner at the Coronado Brewing Company per my request. Lovely food. We had to wait a while to be seated but the grub was so worth it. Then Sunday morning, OJ let me open my presants and we pretty much lazed about until around 3 when my friend Tara got off work and the real fun happened. There is a rock climbing gym not 10 miles from our house and we have never gone. So I asked if we could go for my 20th. I was glad we went. He had a lot of fun. BUT let me tell you about the aching muscles we had later. Harumph. Then Tara left and we went out to The Mandarin House for dinner (per O.J's request). Overall a pretty good birthday.

CHRISTMAS!!! It was a lovely day for us. Woke up, opened presants, enjoyed each others company for a little while before we both started playing with our new toys. Watched Sunshine Cleaning and It's A Wonderful Life. It was nice.

NEW YEARS!!! Ahh the eanding of one year and the start of a fresh one. Our New Year's Eve was a nice one. We got some nice steaks, lots of finger foods, and enjoyed our last meal of 2009. Then later we went to a friend's house where we played video games for a little while (I'm not so good at those myself) then more people arrived and we played Cranium. Our team lost but not by much. Then we went to this local bar to ring in the new year. It was funny because they handed out hats and noise-makers and poppers. The only dampener was the woman at the table behind me losing all her dinner on the table and floor. Other than that, it was fun.

So goodbye 2009, hello 2010. It's always hard to remmeber to change the date at the beginning of a new year, but we'll all get used to it just in time to have to change it again for 2011. We have a long year ahead of us though, and I am so greatful for the family and friends I have to keep me company. So pack away the Christmas decorations, and bring in the Valentines chocolates, because even though I'm working out a lot more now, that doesn't mean I can't enjoy my off days right?

Rover!

Again, a good place to have a camera, but this one you guys can look up online.

I GOT A CAR!!! His name is Rover... He is a 1987 Volvo 240 wagon. He is blue and a beast! OJ says he is a bucket because he thinks poor Rover is falling apart, but I think my baby has just been through a lot. Still no license, but that's what he is here for. He is there to help me get my license and a job! Whoo, go Rover!

Christmas Tree!

I really wish our camera hadn't broken while OJ had it with him on deployment, because we got ourselves a Christmas tree!

OJ's sister Selina is moving to Colorado this Christmas and didn't want to take everything she had. She sold a lot of her furniture and gave us her old tree.

It's a small 4 1/2 ft plastic tree which is pre-lit with multi-colored lights! We don't have any ornaments for it yet or a tree topper, but it's a start right?

I love it. It gives off just enough Christmas spirit for a new tree. I really hope that each year from now on, I get a new sentimental ornament to hang on our tree. That would be just beautiful. I would rather have a tree that has a bunch of oddball ornaments that are sentimental, than to just have a color theme of the generic Christmas tree balls. Eventually I would like to get a bigger tree, but for now, my little 4 1/2 ft multi-colored bare tree with presents under it will do me just fine.

A late Thanksgiving

So as I said, it's been a while since I posted anything, so a lot has happened since then.

For Thanksgiving, OJ took off 10 days and we drove up to spend some time with his family. We got up there on the 19th of November and stayed through the 30th. Man what an eventful 10 days!

The first night we were there was our resting night. We didn't go out or anything because we had just driven for 9 hours. So we rested up for the rest of the week because once the next day hit, man were we busy!

Friday morning we went to our favorite little sandwich shop just around the corner from his parents house called Upper Crust. Wonderful stuff let me tell you. Then we lounged around and then that night we went to dinner with his best friend Kevin and his girlfriend Alex. Man the food I got scalded my mouth! Every bite was hot! The veggies just held the heat I guess.

Saturday, there was a huge gathering. OJ hadn't seen some of his family in years so there was a welcome home / thanksgiving / family reunion. Bruno would not stop barking, so we had to put him outside. After a while I got a massive headache and had to lay down for a while but over all it was an enjoyable evening. I got to meet family I hadn't met before.

Sunday we went to a motorcycle show in San Mateo. OJ and his friends Joey and Kevin, his dad and I all went and had a blast. OJ ended up finding a bike he was interested in. It was a Kawasaki Ninja. But he wont be able to actually get it or even ride it until he is out of the Navy because the Navy has so many restrictions when it comes to motorcycles. But He did buy a helmet that suits him. He wants to get all his gear first, that way when he does get a bike, he doesn't have to wait to ride it.

Monday was OJ's birthday! OJ turned 22 and for his birthday wanted to go to Dave and Buster's. So we gathered a group of friends and family, namely his mom, sister Selina and her ex Karim, Joey and I, and we all had a blast. He got a $50 gift card to best buy from his parents, a workout mat from Selina (which he had asked for), Step Brothers on blu-ray from his Grandma, and Star Trek on blu-ray from me. Over all it was an awesome birthday for him.

Tuesday we went to the movies and saw Paranormal Activity with Joey. OJ didn't like it because it reminded him of a story his sister told him about a personal experience and so we still sleep with the light on.... I love him though.

Wednesday his Grandma and Pop came up from Lathrop and so we were kicked out of his parents house and stayed over at Selina's house. Wednesday was "Guys Night Out" and so Selina and I went to the Mall for a little while and had a girls night.

Thursday was Thanksgiving! And what a wonderful evening it was. The food was great, company was wonderful and the atmosphere as a whole was fantastic. That reminds me, I must get that recipe for sweet yams from his mom...

Friday we went to my Grandma Norma's for another Thanksgiving Lunch. What a gathering! I got to see my Uncle Calvin and Aunt Brenda and my twin cousins Nick and Trevor. Heather and Jake came down from Oregon and brought my niece Paisley, who is the cutest little thing! My dad also showed up but as soon as he got there, he started chopping down an old tree in the back yard. Just like dad. And then some of my Grandpa Joe's family showed up. It was an awesome time had by all. My cousins are a blast! Every time I get together with them I have fun. And I think OJ had fun as well.

Saturday we got to catch up with some old friends of OJ's who were in town from Colorado. Their names were Kevin and David, and they were actually part of the reason I met OJ back in 2003. Then once they left we went out to dinner with his family one last time to this place called Lisa's. It was a little Mexican restaurant which was really just a small whole in the wall, but produced the best Mexican food I have ever had! We were going to go to the gun range, but because of our unexpected visit from Kevin and David, we had to scrap that idea.

Sunday was the day we were to leave, but we went to Church with his parents first. It was this old theatre turned church gathering and it was a ton of fun. Made me want to start going to church again. After church, we quickly packed up our things and said our last goodbyes to his parents. We then stopped off and said goodbye to Kevin and Joey before he hit the road.

It was a long drive home. We made several more stops than we needed to, but we got home eventually.

Over all we had so much fun this past Thanksgiving. I wish I could have spent a little more time with my family, but at least I was giving the chance to see them at all. I am so thankful for the many blessings God has graced me with and I can't wait to see what he brings me next.

Long time, no post...

Okay, so it's been a while since my last post, and that post wasn't very pleasant anyways. So I finally decided that I would dedicate at the very least, 10 minutes each morning to write a new post or finish an old one. So if I have nothing good to post, it's because nothing interesting happened the night before to post about. So here goes.

What a welcome home.

So OJ arrived home on the 19th which was a Saturday night around 8:30. (that's another post. So we went to bed around 10 or so and woke up the next morning and did some things. Later on Sunday evening, we fell asleep around 6 pm and sleep until midnight. We were both on messed up sleep schedules so it was kind of expected. Well by then we were hungry and didn't have a whole lot of food in the house. Of course at midnight, everything tends to close for the night. All accept Denny's of course. We have a Denny's a block and a half from our house and so we were able to walk. We actually had to walk because OJ's registration was expired on his car and we know that cops get bored at night and WILL pull you over for just about anything. So we ended up walking to Denny's.

After a lovely dinner for us but it was called a fourth meal, we paid and started walking home. As we passed between a little liquor store and a Comfort Inn, we noticed two African American males standing next to their car in the alleyway. I just glanced quickly, and kept on walking when I hear a gun cock, and hear one of the men say "give me your purse". Fear instantly possessed my entire body as I noticed a small black handgun pointed in my direction. I thought quickly and realised I didn't want any trouble and if I were to reach into my purse for my pepper spray or knife, I could lose my life. So I thought better of it and just handed the man my purse. He then turned to OJ and asked for his wallet and cell phone. As OJ handed over the loot, the man asked me where my cell phone was, to which I told him it was in the purse. And as quickly as it started, it was over. They both walked away into the car, and drove off. I was still shocked that the didn't shoot either of us and just grabbed OJ's hand and walked away, unharmed.

We were only a a few hundred feet from our house at this point and so we walked the rest of the way home. As we got to the gate and I punched in the code, I was very grateful that I knew the code and that I had left the front window open just enough to be able to jump through after we pulled the screen off. As soon as we were in the house, OJ called the cops and I felt a little more safe.

The robbers got away with both our cell phones, our wallets with all our cards and stuff in there, my $115 sunglasses, the keys to the house, the mailbox and the gate opener, as well as a few other things that are replaceable.

In my opinion, we walked off with the most valuable thing we could have.... our lives. Everything that was taken, could be replaced. Our lives, could not have been and that is what it most important to me.

I thank the Lord every day for the blessings he gave me that night and every night. The Lord delivered us from evil that night and I owe him the up most of gratitude.

Needless to say, no more late night trips anywhere. No, let me rephrase that...no more trips after dark!

The countdown begins!!!

My baby is almost home!!! After months of waiting, I can now count on one hand, the DAYS until his return! This day has been a long time coming, and I just can't wait to hold him again and know everything is going to be okay. Thank you to all those wonderful family members and friends who have helped me through this hard time. It's almost over!

I love you all, but I don't think I'll post again for a few days. And good luck trying to get a hold of me. :D But I promise I will rejoin the world again after a few days of hybernation.

HE IS ALMOST HERE!!!
